Please, check the Music and Art subdirectoryLooks like the students can relate better to the THEMES, rather than to the formal principles of Art (especially Fine Art and Music). [The same I excperienced in THR215 Dramatic Literature and THR413 Playscript Analysis (see THEMES directory.]
The main problem in class is to connect their life experience (and their current problems) with the history. There are many difference levels to view -- economy, politics, ideology. Should I establish the same structure of topics -- love, death, generations and etc.?
[Instead of focusing on the formal principles (they are not ready), I better talk about the messages.]
Start with the plot (they understand it bteer), nexy -- character (hero), finally, the idea. Take the most popular movies, the ones they all saw.
|
Use dictionaries in the main directories on acting, directing, film analysis!
|
First, the ideology of movies must be established, the message.
But how to introduce, for example, Marxism or Existencialism THROUGH art? Art is the connection between us and the past! Literature?
Artistic Style and economics?
